1950s and 1960s are known as the golden age of toys, but there was no internet, or giant toy store.  There were however department stored chains all across the USA and all featured a toy department.  One of the larger department store chains with a huge toy departement was Sears.  Sears devoted many pages of their coveted christmas catelogue to the wonderful world of toys.  Countless hours were spent circling which toys you wanted Santa to bring (although 99.9% of the time he never did it did not matter, it was the fun of turning the page and circling the next awesome toy.  Sears was such a huge supporter of toys they even partnered with Bandai to make some exclusive toys just for Sears.  These exclusive toys were always something a little different but definetly a little better than competitor designs.  This 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible car is no exception.

This well appointed head turning ride includes a high gloss paint job, shiney chrome trim in all the right places and all switches easily accessible from the two front seat levers.

The Lever on the passenger side controls Forward/OFF/Reverse while the drivers side lever is the gear select which allows you to select Neutral, LO, or HI speed.  To add to this pile of features we also have working headlights and you can set left/forward/right direction by manually adusting the front axle.

Today these toys are becoming more collectible, expecially for owners of a real 1965 Mustang convertible as there is nothing better than having a toy car of your real car.

Special Note:  While this car was designed and marketed as a "Sears Exclusive" we have seen at least one example on the internet of this exact car in the original BANDAI box (with no mention of Sears).  I would assume this version may be more rare as Bandai could have been liquidating warehouse stock Sears did not want.
