The box claims this 1968 Cadillac Deville Convertible "Works just like a real Cadillac", lets put this one to the test:
Key on dash to start car - Check
Working on/off headlights (second key on dashboard) - Check
Working Steering Wheel (turns fron tires) - Check
Forward Motion - Check
Reverse Motion - Check
Speed Select (high/low speed) - Partial Check
Wasting energy while idling in parking lot (Neutral gear) - Check
Horn to tell lesser cars the King is comming thru - Check
At over 13 inches long (21.5 feet in real-life @ 1:18 scale) this is indeed a King-sized car and was a market segment dominated by Cadillac at this time. Just like Cadillac, Bandai (maker of this toy car) was dominating the toy market for toy replicas of real cars. At the time Bandai was likely one of the few toy makers who could afford the time and money to license these car designs from the various manufacturers. Personally I am glad they did.
Getting back to "Works just like a real Cadillac" ... does it? We give it a whole-hearted YES. There are very few cars out there that have as many different functions as this King-Sized beauty does. And these cars were built and marketed to the working masses ... amazing what the Bandai business model achieved back then.
