Normura (TN) is known for its exceptional battery-operated toys and this carnival themed Merry-Go-Round Truck is no exception. Running on two D-cell batteries this toy has a lever behind the drivers cab to turn the toy ON/OFF.  When ON the truck moves forward in the chosen direction (left/center/right) the front tires are set to run.  At 1:18 scale this truck would have been over 24 feet in length, 10 feet wide, and 12.5 feet tall in real life.

While running around on the floor (usually set to a circle of course) music is played from a working music box on this inside that plays a short melody while the merry-go-round spins and the riders horses go up-and-down.  Incredible actions when one considers this is made from 100% tin plate (horses, riders, all of it) and while a "high end" toy at the time this still was considered just a toy.

Today this toy is highly sought after due to its colorful theme.  While our copy has some surface rust issues it did go thru a complete preservation in our museum shop and is 100% complete and  functional.  

A sister truck to this one is the Ferris Wheel Truck.  It is identical except the merry-go-round is replaced with a Ferris Wheel that rotates when turned on.  A known variation to both of these trucks is a feature allowing a lever in the back to disengage the drive wheels so one could watch the ride in action without the truck trying to drive away.

Special note:  If you ever see one of these toys in a junk bin with either of the "spectators" sitting behind the cab  ... BUY IT.  These pieces are commonly missing and command a high price to collectors wanting to complete their toy.
