While not an identical set all these battery-operated toy cars are targeting the same 1950s "economy toy" market. While different in color and trim these cars all share a direct-drive (motor pinion directly contacts rear rubber tire), selectable left/right steering, and an ON/OFF lever on the rear of the vehicle.
Keeping manufacturing cost down these cars have minimal trim and no interior and (staying true to the economy minded customers) these cars only require 1 D cell battery to operate which cut in 1/2 the battery supply required compared to most toys of the period
Featured in this exhibit:
1. Red Sedan - Produced by Unknown, Japan. This version includes Forward/Reverse ON/OFF lever (OFF is in the middle with Left/Right controling direction.
2. Dark Blue Sedan - Produced by Normura, Japan. Appears to be a 1952 Cadillac. While it only has forward motion it does include a front windshield and a very fancy front bumper for added realistic detail.
3. Electric Sedan Car (Turquoise Blue Car) - Produced by Asahi Toy, Japan. This version was imported by "GEO. Borgfelidt Corporation, New York" (taken from original box) and also includes a front windshield and a shiny ON/OFF lever above the bumper and painted (yellow?) tail-lights help this one stand out from the crowd.
